Rickey Wayne Harbin, aged 69, of Lavonia, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025, at his home, following an extended illness.

Rick was born on October 27, 1955, in Greenville, SC, to Ellen Tinsley Harbin and the late Harold P. Harbin. Renowned for his radiant smile and warm embraces, Rick was a cherished figure in the Lavonia community. Whether he was serving as a bag boy at Dills Food City or volunteering with the Jaycees and the Food4Kids team, Rick left a lasting positive impression on everyone he encountered.

A former Boy Scout and Special Olympian, Rick's enthusiasm for life and sports shone brightly through his steadfast support of the Franklin County Lions, the Clemson Tigers, and the Georgia Bulldogs. Because of his love of the police department and other public safety, Rick was named as an Honorary Lavonia Police Officer. His artistic talents were a source of pride, with his artwork displayed across the state through Artists with Disabilities, Inc. Rick was also a dedicated member of the Lavonia United Methodist Church and the Men's Club.

In addition to his beloved mother, Ellen Tinsley Harbin, Rick is survived by his sister, Lou Harbin Tucker, and her husband, Doug. He leaves behind his treasured nieces, Amanda Tucker (Justin Pritchard), Danielle Parker (Austin), and Gracie Tucker, along with a multitude of family and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the funeral home chapel, officiated by Rev. Courtney Umbehant. A private burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
