Mrs. Rita Ann Willoughby Brown, age 68, of Lavonia, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens.
Born December 21, 1950, in Griffin, GA, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Mildred (Biles) Willoughby. She retired from Gwinnett County Schools as a bus driver. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years: Leonard "Fred" Brown; daughters & sons-in-law: Tracy & Darrin McFarlin and Connie & Paul Vasser; brother & sister-in-law: Tommy & Nancy Willoughby; grandchildren: Cameron Mason, Carson Williams, and Carliann Broome; niece: Jenny Foster; and nephews: James Foster, Brent Willoughby, Ken Willoughby, Chris Calhoun, and Brian Willoughby. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister: Cathy Foster; and brother: Jerry Willoughby.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Bruce McGee and Rev. Billy Driskell officiating. Cremation will follow the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
