Mrs. Rita Marie Schaefer Hohman, 82, of Hartwell, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2024 at AnMed Medical Center, Anderson SC.

Born on May 22, 1942 in Akron OH, she was the daughter of the late George Henry Schaefer and Nora Elizabeth Moledor Schaefer.  Mrs. Hohman formerly co-owned and operated Hohman Greenhouse in Atwater OH with her husband Donald before moving to Hartwell.  She also was a Master Gardner and a member of the Hart Co. Botanical Garden.  Mrs. Hohman was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and the Ladies Circle.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years: Donald T. Hohman; a son: Ronald L. Hohman (Laura) of Claremont KY; a daughter: Donna Marie Hohman (Ward Fairbee) of Columbus OH; a brother: Dan Schaefer (Lynn) of Rootstown OH; two sisters: Rosellen S. Farnworth (Tom) and Mary S. Wells (Charlie) all of Hartville OH; two grandsons: Philipp Hohman (Missy) and Matthew Hohman (Erika) and three great0grandchildren: Brogan, Bentley and Skylar Hohman also survive.  Mrs. Hohman was preceded in death by her parents and a brother: Denny Schaefer.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.  Other times the family will be at the home.

Mrs. Hohman wished to be cremated and a memorial mass to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

A second memorial mass will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 10:00 am at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mogadore OH.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ladies Circle of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 1009 Benson Street, Hartwell GA 30643.
