Mr. Robert Arthur Chitwood, age 86, of Royston, formerly of McDonough, GA, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Pruitt Health of Toccoa.
He was born November 22, 1933 in Rome, GA, the son of the late Ernest and Louise (Smith) Chitwood. After high school he served in the US Air Force. He retired as an Air Traffic Controller with the FAA Air Traffic Control Center in Hampton. He was a member of Three Point Bible Church in Jonesboro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Shirley Gay (Gillham) Chitwood; daughter: Angela Jo Hill; and sisters: Betty Jo Chitwood and Margie Jean Chitwood Bryant.
He is survived by his son & daughter-in-law: Steve & Carol Chitwood; daughter & son-in-law: Karen & Kenneth Atkinson; son-in-law: Greg Hill; grandchildren: Kenneth & Valerie Atkinson, Christina & Darius Bailey, Whitney & Josh Burns; William Chitwood, and Kristi Bearden Farmer.
