Mr. Robert Fay "Bobby" Cleveland, 76, of Hartwell, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019 at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital, Lavonia.
Born on October 11, 1942 in Hartwell GA, He was the son of the late Fay H. Cleveland and Clara Bell Hayes Cleveland.Mr. Cleveland attended Georgia Southern University and was a graduate of Tri-County Technical College.He was retired from Acree Oil Company, Seneca SC, where he was a Plant Manager.He was also a member of the Mt. Hebron Baptist Church and the American Legion Post #109.Mr. Cleveland was a US Army veteran, where he served in the Vietnam War receiving four Bronze Stars with Valor.
Survivors include his wife: Jerry J. Cleveland; two daughters: Kelley C. Lamphier (Keith) of Atlanta GA and Kerry C. Smith (Matthew) of Anderson SC; a step daughter: Denice Baggott (Alan) of Atlanta GA; a step-son: Vincent Tankersley of Hartwell; three brothers: Doug Cleveland (Sandra), Mike Cleveland (Connie Jo) and Ricky Cleveland (Janet) all of Hartwell GA; twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.
The family will receive friends Sunday, September 15, 2019 from 1:30 to 3:00 at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.
Bobby wished to be cremated and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. John Silver and Rev. Carter Tucker officiating. Military honors will follow the service.
