Robert Eugene "Johnny" Dunnell

Mr. Robert Eugene “Johnny” Dunnell, 79, of Hartwell, passed away Monday, May 4, 2026 at AnMed Health Medical Center, Anderson SC.

Born on April 13, 1947 in Canon GA, he was the son of the late Howard Dunnell and Mary Edith Pickens Dunnell. He was a retired truck driver for Roadway Express and a bus driver for Hart County Charter System. He was of the Church of God Faith and attended Price Chapel Church of God.

Survivors include two daughters: Melissa Herman (Richard) of Greenville SC, Jessica Cleveland (Micheal) of Hartwell; two grandchildren René Holt, Diana Cleveland; three great grandchildren: Rosaleen Holt, Naomi Holt and Eveliene Holt.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents and one great grandchild: Caleb Holt.

A celebration of life for Mr. Johnny Dunnell will be Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Mr. Christopher Holt officiating. Visitation will follow the service.

The family will be at the home of Micheal and Jessica Cleveland, 12 Spout Springs Court, Hartwell GA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 202 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105.

The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is assisting the family with all of the arrangements.
