Mr. Robert M. "Bob" Glenn, Sr., 91, of Cedar Lane, Hartwell, died peacefully, Friday, January 4, 2013 at Hartwell Health Care Center.
Born on June 3, 1921 in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late William Keith Glenn and Ora Jane Browne Glenn.Bob was the former area distributor for Texaco and owner of the local Harper Motor Lines terminal.Later in his career he was a sales representative for Manning Brothers, a realtor for Lake Hartwell Realty and a consultant for Adtech.He served on the Hartwell City Council, the Hart County Board of Finance and was employed by Hart County as County Clerk. Mr. Glenn was a past President of the Hartwell Kiwanis Club, a member of Hartwell First United Methodist Church and a US Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific Theatre.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Shaw "Dee" Glenn; four sons: Robert "Mac" Glenn, Jr. and his wife Alice Frye Glenn of Hartwell, William "Bill" Glenn and his wife Susan Kesler Glenn of Tequesta, FL, Gregory "Greg" Glenn and his wife Becky Kesler Glenn of Hartwell, and Kenneth "Ken" Glenn of Hartwell; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.Mr. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, William Henry, Newton Browne, William Keith and George R. Glenn; four sisters, Margarite Glenn, Elfrida Marchbanks, Ora Ann Gault and Martha Ellen Samuel and a daughter-in-law, Sherry Moser Glenn.
Memorial services will be Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Hartwell First United Methodist Church with Dr. R. Allen Stewart officiating.A reception will follow the memorial service in the fellowship hall.
