Robert Lewis Payne, age 67, of Martin, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at his home. Born on February 11, 1958, in Commerce, GA, Robert was the son of the late Rudolph Lewis Payne and Alma Ruth Owensby Payne.

Robert dedicated over two decades of his life to Tri-County Hardware in Lavonia. Before his time there, he built a successful career in the textile industry. Robert was an avid outdoorsman, with a particular love for hunting. His passion for the outdoors was matched only by his love for music and guitars. His long-legged Jack Russell terriers were his greatest companions.

Robert is survived by his siblings: Teresa Caudell (David), William Payne, David Payne (Edwina), and Tammy Prater (Chris). He leaves behind his cousin and best friend, Ray Hanley, along with several other beloved cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews who will all cherish his memory dearly.

In accordance with his request, Robert was cremated. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Rogers Baptist Church 1890 Rogers Church Road Commerce, GA 30530.
