Obituary
Mr. Robert Gordon Strickland Sr., 90 of Ridge Road, Hartwell, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 4, 2017 at his home.
Born on June 13, 1927 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late Gordon and Alice Burden Strickland. Robert was raised in Hart County and graduate of Hart County High School, Class of 1944.On July 16, 1951, Robert married his wife, Betty Ann Teasley.Mr. Strickland was retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass, former member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and was a founding member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church.He was a WW II veteran; serving in the U. S. Army Air Corps.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Betty Teasley Strickland; two sons: Robert G. "Chip" Strickland Jr. and Tim Strickland and his wife Sue; a daughter: Rhona S. Dunn and her husband Jimmy Ray all of Hartwell; nine grandchildren: Matthew Dunn (Amanda), Robert Dunn, Justin Strickland (Whitney), Elisha Reeder (Josh), Noel Strickland, Rachel Strickland, Foster Strickland (Christi), Brooke Wilson (Steven) and Robbie Lee and six great-grandchildren: Tray Reynolds-Dunn, Karrigan Wilson, Jaden Brezeale, Rayben Dunn, Benjamin Strickland and Ash Strickland also survive.Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by a son: Benjamin "Ben" Strickland; a daughter-in-law: Cathy C. Strickland; a granddaughter: Tiffany Brown; two brothers: Thomas Strickland and Ned Strickland and a sister: Mildred Strickland.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Meeks and Rev. Forrest Ferguson officiating.Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening.The family is at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 1543 Anderson Hwy, Hartwell, GA 30643 or to the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 2973 Mt. Olivet Road, Hartwell GA 30643.
