Mr. James Robert Vickery, Sr., 92, of the Airline Community, died Monday, March 24, 2014 at his home.

Born on March 23, 1922 in Bowersville, GA, he was the son of the late Isham "Vick" Vickery and Drucie Ertzberger Vickery.He was retired from Newton Plant. He was a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter: Susan Fleming and her husband David of Canon; daughter-in-law: Linda A. Vickery; six granddaughters: Tressa Blackwell and her husband Terry, Kellie Stoner and her husband Stan, Katie Moore and her husband Scott, Traci Wheeler and her fiancé Jason Weaver, Melissa Green and her husband Scottie, and Keri Vickery and her fiancé Mike Schmitz; nine great-grandchildren; two nephews: Leonard McLane, and Wayne Vickery and his caregiver Sharon Huff. Mr. Vickery was preceded in death by his wife Sara Weaver Vickery, two sons: James R. Vickery and Dale William Vickery, one sister: Nell McLane, one brother: Joel Dean Vickery and one great grandchild: Jamie Chafin.He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. David Wilson officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends Wednesday, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.The family are at the home.
