Mr. Roy Allen Harper, age 82, of 1330 Bio Church Rd., Hartwell GA, died Saturday, April 19, 2008 at AnMed Health Medical Center, Anderson.

Born December 5, 1925 in Hart County, GA, he is the son of the late Jessie W. Harper and Eunice Hunt Harper.He was the retired owner of Harper Construction and former co-owner of Harper and Rice Construction. Mr. Harper was a former member of Bethesda United Methodist Church where he was Sunday School Superintendent for over 35 years and served on various committees of the church and was a former member of the Hart County Hospital Authority. Mr. Harper was a member of the Concord Baptist Church in Anderson and a member of the Men's Sunday School Class. He was a WWII Navy Air Corp Veteran.

He is survived by: his wife, Margaret Eakin Harper of the home, sons, Chris Allen Harper, Conyers, Ga., Roy Gregory Harper, Hartwell, Ga., daughters, Ann Chastain and her husband, Leonard of Anderson, S.C., Gail Johnson and her husband, Larry of Hartwell, Ga., step-daughters, Peggy Fulp and her husband Bob of Trinity, N.C., Judy Jernigan and her husband Billy of Charlotte, N.C. Seven grandchildren and three step-grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eunice Isom Harper, the mother of his children and by sisters, Dora Lee Adams, Cecil Campbell and Edna Whitaker.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 21, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from the Hartwell Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Rev. Doug Brown and Dr. Don Cox will officiate. The body is at the funeral home and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening. The family will be at the home of Larry and Gail Johnson1540 Bio Church Road, Hartwell, Ga.
