Rev. Milford Roy Carter, age 69, of Carnesville, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.

Born January 10, 1953, in Stephens County, he was a son of the late Milford Carter and Frances (Lewis) Carter Maye. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was an Ordained Bishop in the Church of God, where he pastored numerous churches throughout his ministry career. He had a heart for benevolence and always wanted to help others.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years: Revonda (Farmer) Carter; brother: Bobby Carter, Sr.; and sisters: Maggie Carter, Betty Brooks, and Hilda Thomason.

He is survived by his daughter: Robin Carter (Robert); sons: Rev. Timothy Carter and Billy Carter (Kira); grandchildren: Brittany Kimsey (Kevin), Jennifer Ashley (Dylan), and Ashley Alewine; great-grandchildren: Penelope Scott, Daniel Alewine, Lewis Burton, and Carrie Alewine; brother: Kenneth Carter (Sylvia); sisters: Shirley Ann Dove, and Karen Carter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Bobby Strickland and Rev. Wayne Thomason officiating. Burial will follow in Bowers Memorial Park with Rev. Bobby Farmer officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 12:00 until the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation (www.parkinson.org) and by random acts of kindness to others.
