Mr. James Roy Risner, 87, of 1277 Boleman Hill Rd, Hartwell, peacefully passed away Monday,November 11, 2013 at Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center in Lavonia.

Born on June 23, 1926 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late Buford Risner and Essie Dutton Risner.Mr. Risner was retired from Hartwell Mills where he worked as a machine operator for 35 years.He was a US Army Veteran having served in World War II and was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Risner Boleman of Bowman; two sons: James Larry Risner and Jimmy Ray Risner, both of Hartwell; three grandchildren and three step grandchildren; and nine step great- grandchildren.Mr. Risner was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Imogene Sara Holcombe Risner; three brothers: Howard Risner, Fred Risner, Edward Risner; and six sisters: Elsie Brown, Ethel Wood, Vera Brown, Ruth Robinson, Edna Thrasher, and Vester Crocker.

Funeral services will be Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Mr. Fred Greenway officiating.Burial will be in the Reed Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, special memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1925 Century Blvd, Suite 10, Atlanta, GA30345-3315.

The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends Thursday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. just prior to the service.The family is at the home.
