IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Royce T.
Dyer
October 31, 1935 – November 4, 2025
Royce Thomas Dyer, of Hartwell, Georgia, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at the age of 90. Born on October 31, 1935, Royce lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to others.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Margaret Macijewski Dyer; daughter, Caroline Dyer Parker; grandchildren, Cassidy Parker Eifert (Austin) and Blake Parker (Megan); and great-granddaughter, Elsie Parker. He was preceded in death by his daughter Marsha Ann Dyer; parents, James and Permelia Dyer; brothers, JD and Eugene Dyer; and sisters, Lonnie Bell Isom, Lucille Lovern, and Gussie Mae Mabry.
Royce was a devoted family man, known affectionately as "Papa." His grandchildren and great-grandchild were his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Despite the distance, he often made the six-hour drive to Florida to attend their sporting events, church programs, and school activities.
A faithful member of Hartwell First Presbyterian Church and previously Sharon Presbyterian Church, Royce served as an elder, greeter, usher, and in many other roles throughout the years. His commitment to his faith and community was evident in all he did.
Royce worked for Winn Dixie as a Produce Manager for 37 years, forming many lifelong friendships. In retirement, he enjoyed mornings with his breakfast group at Dairy Queen and traveling with Margaret on bus tours across the country.
He had a deep love for country music and would often go the Hiawassee Fair to see favorite artists perform. A passionate sports fan, Royce supported the Hart County Bulldogs by working in the concession stand and attending both home and away games. He was also a loyal fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, and Atlanta Falcons, often watching multiple games from his screened porch with two TVs.
Royce will be remembered for his warmth, dedication, and the joy he brought to those around him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home.
