Ruby McCollum Blackmon, age 82, of Canon, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born August 3, 1938, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late John Daniel McCollum and Magie Royster McCollum. She retired from the Milliken & Co. Avalon Plant. After retirement she worked as a substitute teacher at Hart County High School. She was a member of Community Harvest Church.
She is survived by her daughter: Vicky Carter; son: Jerry Blackmon; grandchildren: Josh Blackmon, Megan Hall, Maggie Blackmon, Daniel Carter, and Ashley Childs; and great-granddaughter: Ruby Marie Blackmon.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Teddy King and Rev. Tim Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
