Mrs. Ruby Inez (Collins) Thomas, age 74, of Anderson, SC, formerly of Martin, died Friday, July 21, 2017 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Born May 7, 1943, in Stephens County, she was the daughter of the late James Ira and Sarah Jane (Wilson) Collins. Prior to retirement, she was a pattern cutter at Penline Garment Company in Toccoa. Mrs. Thomas was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Melvin B. Thomas; daughter: Linda Gail Evans; and brothers: Lee Roy Collins and John Henry Collins.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Andrea and Dale Rumsey; son: Michael Thomas; sisters: Louise Ansley and Betty Jean Pressley; brother: J. B. Collins; grandchildren: Brittany Horton, Chad Evans, and Tim Evans; and four great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. A private burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the service.
