Mrs. Ruby Nell Clark Powers, widow of Mr. L.C. Powers, passed away Thursday, November 08, 2012 at her home.
Mrs. Powers was a daughter of the late Ottis Estees Clark and Arzonia Elizabeth (Stone) Clark Moseley. She was born in Franklin County and lived all her life in the Lavonia area.
She was predeceased by her brothers Billie Estees Clark of Lavonia and James Coy Clark of Augusta, Ga.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Powers Bruce and her husband Gary; Grandsons, Michael Bruce and his wife Teresa; Scot Bruce and his wife, Kim; her Great-granddaughters, Keri, Lauren, and Kylie Bruce all of Lavonia, a sister, Dora Faye Lee of West Union, SC. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Powers retired from Carwood Mfg. of Lavonia. She was a CNA at Hart County Hospital for many years. She was also a retired poultry farmer. She enjoyed her post-retirement working at Nora's Boutique and Gumlog Barbeque in Lavonia. Mrs. Powers was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Martin, Ga.
Service will be held at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 with Rev. Josh Harvill and Rev. Charles Holland officiating. Mrs. Powers will be laid to rest at Franklin Memorial Gardens – North with Rev. Scott Schrimsher officiating.
The family will receive friends at Strickland Funeral Home in Lavonia Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 1333 Pleasant Hill Road, Martin, GA 30557 or Amedisys Hospice, 53 Rock Drive, Toccoa, GA 30577. The family will be at the home of Gary & Shirley Bruce, 3541 Parkertown Road, Lavonia.
