Mrs. Ruby Nell (Wood) Chastain, age 78, of Lavonia, died Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at her home.
Born September 7, 1936, in Hart County, she was the daughter of the late: Thomas William and Ardie Mae (Nix) Wood. She retired from the Rulanco Company and was a member of East Lavonia Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Joe Chastain; daughter: Debra Chastain; sons: Ricky Chastain & Clay Chastain; sisters: Eloise Peeples, Edna Cape, Gatha Blackwell; and a brother: Roy Wood.
Survivors include her daughter: Shirley Hill; grandchildren: Jeremy Chastain, Marshall Chastain, Christy Dutton & Jody Chastain; great grandchildren: Brandon & Justin Pearson, Makayla Chastain, Taylor Dutton, Alex & Alexis Chastain; sisters: Beatrice Wehunt, Ruth Wooten, Jean Wilbanks & Mildred Ramey; brothers: Rayford & Preston Wood.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2014 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Gettis Allen, Rev. Scott Rice and Mrs. Barbara Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens - North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Flowers are optional or memorial donations may be made to defray funeral expense.
