Russell Charles Wittig, age 83, of Martin, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022 at his home following an extended illness.

Born August 19, 1938, in Gloversville, NY, he was a son of the late Wesley T. Wittig and Eleanor Cole Wittig Evans. He retired from Western Union, where he worked as a telecommunications technician. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father: Lee A. Evans; son-in-law: Cal Miller; dear companion: Patricia Pritchard; and siblings: Gary A. Wittig, Rodney Wittig, Judith Wittig, and Ronald Wittig.

He is survived by his children: Lamont Elliott Wittig (Charlotte), Theresa L. Wittig Miller, and Christine G. Wittig Kimmey (Eddie); grandchildren: Jacob L. Miller (Kay), Patrick R. Miller, Clay E. Kimmey (Thessa), and Matt Whitman (Larissa); great-grandchildren: Max Miller, Isla Kimmey, Sophia, Stella, Sloane, and Elliott Whitman; niece: Nga Wittig Nguyen (Que); great-nephews: Xuan Nguyen and David Nguyen; and great-niece: Jessica Nguyen.

Mr. Wittig was cremated in accordance with his request. No services are planned at this time.
