Mrs. Ruth Evalena Moody Long, 89, of 681 Bowen Road, Hartwell, died peacefully Thursday, August 2, 2012 at her home.

Born on August 2, 1923 in Johnson City, TN, she was the daughter of the late William C. Moody, Sr. and Grace Camoleon Allison Moody.She was retired from the Forsyth County Probate Court where she worked as the office manager and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cumming.Mrs. Long was also a member of the Athens Rock and Gem Society in Athens, GA and a member of AARP.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna Ruth Long of Hartwell; one brother, W.C. Moody, Jr., of Edgefield, SC; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren also survive.Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald J. Long; a daughter, Mary Josephine Long Roberts; and two sisters: Ida M. Cundiff and Mary Queen.

Memorial services will be Sunday, August 5, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. John Silver and Mr. Hilton Cundiff officiating.Mrs. Long's wishes were to be cremated after her memorial service.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service.The family is at the home.In lieu of flowers, special memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA30605.
