Mrs. Ruth Skelton Roper, age 65 of 490 McMullan Road, Hartwell, Ga., died Thursday, August 16, 2007 at AnMed Health Medical Center, Anderson, S.C.

Born December 20, 1941 in Hart County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph T. Skelton and Doris Elizabeth Richardson Skelton. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sardis Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class.

She is survived by: her husband, Carlton J. Roper of the home, son, C. Todd Roper and his wife Dawn Morrison Roper of Siler City, N.C., brothers, Louie Skelton of Hartwell, Ga., and Van Skelton of Bowersville, Ga., grandchildren, Taylor Nicole Roper, Payton Roper and Kelsey Elizabeth Roper. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Milton and Harry Skelton and sister, Patsy Skelton Hilley.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at the Sardis Baptist Church. Rev. Tommy Kennedy and Rev. Carter Tucker will officiate. Burial will be at Nancy Hart Memorial Park. The body will lie in state at 2:30 p.m.

The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday evening. The family will be at the home.
