Ruth Lavon Atkinson Smith, age 73, of Martin, passed away Sunday, June 04, 2023 at Stephens County Hospital.

Born February 28, 1950, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Sara Atkinson. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Ruth was an avid knitter, especially blankets, and loved fishing and gardening.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands: Eddie Davis and John Smith; sister: Linda Atkinson; brothers: Donald "Red" Atkinson, Spurgeon "Spud" Atkinson, Kenneth Atkinson, and Arthur Atkinson; and a granddaughter.

She is survived by her sons: Ron Davis, Rod Davis, Casey Davis, Jamie Smith, Joey Smith, and Kevin Smith; daughter: Amy Smith; sisters: Catherine Moore, Brenda Vaughn, Thelma Atkinson, and Shirley Shiretzki; brothers: Doug Atkinson and Billy Atkinson; thirteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. After the visitation, Ruth will be cremated in accordance with her request.
