Mrs. Ila Ruth (Whittaker) Tice, age 76, of Lavonia, died Monday, September 1, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospice House.
Born February 26, 1932, in Princeton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Joseph "Vohn" & Ethel Alene (Fain) Whittaker. She was a homemaker, secretary, and rental property agent.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother: Douglas Whittaker and sister: Mary Jane Whittaker.
She is survived by husband: Joseph L. Tice; son: Gene Tice of Rabun Gap; son and daughter-in-law: Michael L. & Renee Tice of Lavonia; daughter and fiancé: Deborah "Debbie" Tate & Cecil Gentry of Lavonia; daughter: Valita Tice of Lavonia; grandchildren: Melissa and Matthew Tice of Lavonia; sisters: Anita Watkins of Lavonia and Lou Conner & Ken of Don Pedro Island, FL; and sister-in-law: Betty Whittaker of Lake City.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2008 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Lavonia City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour.
