Ms. Ruth Bunch West, 91, of Fairview Ave, Hartwell, passed away Friday, March 18, 2016 at her home.

Born on July 20, 1924 in Glasgow KY, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Howard Bunch and Flossie Victoria Williams Bunch.Ms. West retired from the Hart-Franklin Training Center, where she was the bookkeeper.Ms. West was a member and former president of the local AARP and had served on the board of directors of Hart Haven.She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hartwell since 1964, where she was a former Sunday School teacher, choir member and WMU director and a member of the Joy Sunday School Class.Ms. West was a former Georgia WMU director.

Survivors include her son: Bill West and his wife Vickie of Denver CO; two daughters: Nancy W. Duncan and her husband Joe of Atlanta GA and Charlotte W. Lawson and her husband Rick of Brunswick GA; two sisters: Lucy Gray of Austin KY and Betty Jo Lyons of Tampa FL; five grandchildren: Noelle Ostroff, Daniel Duncan, Karrin Duncan, Wes Lawson and Carly Lawson and three great-grandchildren: Amara Ostroff, Shaefer Ostroff and Elliot Colsby also survive.Ms. West was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters: Sarah Shockley, Charlene Ogden and Nettie Furlong.

Memorial services will be Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Hartwell with Rev. Carter Tucker, Dr. Hugh Kirby and Dr. Steve Albanese officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday April 2, 2016 at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Music Ministry of the First Baptist Church of Hartwell, 81 E. Howell Street, Hartwell GA 30643 or to the Hospice of One's Choice.

The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
