Mrs. Ruth (Lamb) Williams, age 86, of Lavonia, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born August 9, 1930, in Chesnee, SC, she was the daughter of the late Buford and Jessie (Ezell) Lamb. She was a graduate of Spartanburg Jr. College where she obtained her teaching credentials. She worked at First Bank and Trust and was a member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joe Lynn Williams, Sr.
She is survived by her sons: Mike Williams and Sherry of Canon and Joe "Lynn" Williams, Jr. of Englewood, CO; daughter: Susan Miles and John of Jackson, GA; grandchildren: Cody Williams, Conner Williams, Jesse Miles, and Sarah Miles. siblings: Freida Bonner and Ronnie, Debbie Robbins, Werner Lamb and Linda and Blain Lamb; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017 at the Lavonia First Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Finger officiating. Burial will follow in the Bowersville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church beginning at 2:00 p.m. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to the Lavonia First Baptist Church Youth Fund.
