Joesaphene Ella Ruth (Wood) Wooten, 78, of Royston, entered into rest on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at her home.
Born April 18, 1940, in Hart County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Artie Mae (Nix) Wood. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was a homemaker. She was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Wofford Ellis Wooten only 9 months ago.
She leaves behind her Daughter and son-in-law: Amanda and Dewayne Murray of Royston; grandkids she loved dearly: Jacob Chance Wooten (Katelyn Bryson) and Kyla Grace Murray; great grandson: Aiden Luke Wooten; a very special CNA & friend who was like a daughter to her: Kesha Cunningham; sisters: Beatrice Wood and Jean Wilbanks of Lavonia and Mildred Turner of Six Mile, SC; brothers: Rayford Wood of Long Creek, SC and Preston Wood of Canon; a many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son: Mac Tyrus Cobb; sisters: Elease Peeples, Ruby Chastain, Gatha Blackwell and Edna Cape; and a brother: Roy Wood.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Jerome Hill, Rev. Tim Miller and Rev. Gary Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Bowers Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday Evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other times the family will be at the home.
