Mr. Sammy Jackson Beggs, age 72, of 4195 Airline Goldmine Road – Canon, died Tuesday, January 09, 2007 at Athens Regional Hospital.
Born February 15, 1934, in Hart County, he was the son of the late Mack and Elinor (Dillworth) Beggs. He was a businessman and member of the Hart County Board of Education. Mr. Beggs was an active member of Redwine United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School for many years. He served in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife: Flora Beggs; sons: Kenneth Beggs, Steve Beggs, and David Beggs all of Canon; daughter: Angie Shirley of Canon. 4 grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren also survive. Mr. Beggs was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sara Kay.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2007 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Redwine Baptist Church Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to the Redwine United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund 1213 Farm Rd. Canon, GA 30520. The family is at the home.
