Sandra Louise Buffington Bailey, age 82, of Mt. Olivet Road, Hartwell, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital
Born October 26, 1936, in Hart County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Mary Lou Withers Buffington. She retired from Bellcraft as a supervisor. She was a longtime member of Providence United Methodist Church and was an active worker, as long as her health allowed, with the Methodist Women and Lib's Soup Kitchen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: David Buffington; and sister: Joy Franks.
She is survived by her husband: Herman Bailey of the home; sons: Dwane Bailey & Lynn of Bowersville, Randy Bailey of Hartwell, Danny Bailey & Laurie of Bowersville, and Wilton Bailey of Hartwell; brother: Donald Buffington of Hartwell; sister: Karen Stovall & Charles of Lavonia; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Providence United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Huycke, Rev. Ken Buffington, and Rev. Doug Brown officiating. Mrs. Bailey will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Adam Bailey, Michael Bailey, Chris Buffington, Gary Cook, Scott Cornelison, Jeff Cornelison, Herb Madden, and Joey White.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home. Flowers are optional or memorial donations can be made to the Providence United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2395 Providence Church Road, Lavonia, GA 30553.
