Mrs. Sandra Kay Carmichael Griswell, 74, of Hartwell, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024 at her home.

Born on August 24, 1949 in Ringgold, VA, she was the daughter of the late Abe Carmichael and Nora Tate Carmichael. Mrs. Griswell retired from AT&T/Bellsouth as a customer access manager, and she was great cook and offered her catering services as Candlelight Catering. Sandra was of the Baptist faith, volunteered for Hart Co. Humane Society, and was a great interior designer & decorator. Sandra was a great friend and she had a large circle of friends, and a close-knit family she could love and share her great sense of humor. Mrs. Griswell also loved the lake.

Survivors include her son: David L. Griswell of Hartwell; two daughters: Alicia G. Hogan (Dale) of Monroe, GA, and Lisa K. McDearis (Brian) of Loganville, GA; one brother: Daniel Carmichael of Danville, VA; two sisters: Janie Curtis of Danville, VA, and Carolyn McDaniel of McLeansville, NC; six grandchildren: Corey & Dusty Griswell, Colby, Peyton, and Addison Hogan, and Ashley McIntyre (Cody); and one great-grandchild, Ajax McIntyre, also survives. Mrs. Griswell is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Carl A. Griswell, Jr; one sister: Jean Carmichael.

The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sandra Griswell will be Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Dr. R. Allen Stewart officiating.  Burial will be in the Reed Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
