Ms. Sara Jane (Craft) Whitworth, age 84, of Lavonia, died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Hart Care Center.
Born May 20, 1924, in Hart County, she was the daughter of the late Lucious & Louise (Wilson) Craft. She retired from Carwood Mfg. as a seamstress. Ms. Whitworth was a member of Providence United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and former member of the Missionary Society. She was also a member of the Forever Young Class of Shoal Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Sammy Howard Whitworth; and former husband and friend: Samuel Howard Whitworth.
She is survived by friends: Dan & Debbie Johnson of Lavonia and Sandra & Herman Bailey of Hartwell.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
