Mrs. Sara Blackwell McMullan, 94, of 2183 New Prospect Road, Hartwell, GA, died peacefully Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at her home.
Born February 12, 1914 in Banks County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Lon Blackwell and Alice Hill Blackwell.She was a graduate of Tift College and was a retired School Teacher and Paraprofessional. She was a member of Hartwell First Baptist Church, Ruth Sunday School Class and a former Wednesday night supper worker.She was also a Charter Member of Madora Garden Club, Avid Bridge Player and enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include:Sons, William T. "Tom" McMullan and wife J.K. of Athens, GA and James B. "Jim" McMullan and his wife Rosalind of Hartwell, GA; Brother, Bobby Blackwell and his wife Miriam of Homer, GA; Sister, Frances Farmer of Atlanta, GA; Four grandchildren, Dr. John P. McMullan, Dr. Laura K. McMullan, Russell L. McMullan, Kimberly L. McMullan and one great grandchild, T. Parker McMullan.She is preceded in death by Parents; Husband, John F. McMullan; Son, Lewis B. McMullan; Brothers, Jessie, Maurice and Fred Blackwell; and Sisters, Alice Tucker and Ruby Blackwell.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Dr. Steve Williams, Rev. Carter Tucker and Dr. Hugh Kirby will officiate.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. The family is at the home of Jim and Rosalind McMullan's, 2816 New Prospect Road, Hartwell.Memorials may be made to Hartwell First Baptist Church, 81 E. Howell Street, Hartwell, GA.
