Mrs. Sara Sanders Rumsey, 94, of Sarijon Road, Hartwell, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018 at Hartwell Health & Rehab.
Born on November 21, 1923 in Hartwell GA, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Sanders and Clyde Brown Sanders.Mrs. Rumsey was a homemaker and a member of the Reed Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son: John David Rumsey and Jane ofWoodstock, GA; one daughter: Karen Griffitt and Robert of Lansing, NC; one sister: Imogene Dunn of Hartwell; seven grandchildren: Kelly Bailey, John Rumsey, David Rumsey, Michael Rumsey, Joseph Griffitt, Sara Stephenson, and Anna Griffitt; ten great-grandchildren: Spence Bailey, Trent Bailey, Brittany Lewis, Ansley Rumsey, Emily Rumsey, Michael Rumsey, Ava Rumsey, Allison Griffitt, Thomas Leal, Jason Stephenson; one great-great grandchild: Bennett Lewis; and several nieces and nephews also survive.Mrs. Rumsey was preceded in death by her husband: John Tom Rumsey and one son: Tom Rumsey.
Graveside services will be held Monday, May 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Reed Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Dulaney officiating.Burial will be in the Reed Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.The family will be at their respective homes.Flowers are optional, memorials may be made to the Reed Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 116 Boleman Hill Road, Hartwell, Ga 30643.
