Mrs. Sara Alice Herring Walters, age 81, of Lavonia, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at her home.
Born April 17, 1929 in Hart County, she was the daughter of the late William Robert and Ella Mae Whitworth Herring. Mrs. Walters worked in textiles for a number of years and in later years worked at Foodland Grocery Store. She was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband: Carl Harold (Harry) Walters and son: William Harold Walters.
She is survived by her 3 grandchildren: Amy & John Moss of Lavonia, Michael Walters of Lavonia, & Robert Walters of Dalton; 4 great-grandchildren: Hailey, Tyler, Madison, & Austin; brother & sister-in-law: Billy & Julia Herring of Bowersville; sisters & brothers-in-law: Alva & Frank McCall of Gaffney, SC and Barbara & Roger Gibson of Lavonia.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2010 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Internment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friend at the funeral home 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening. At other times the family will be at the home.
