Sara Whitworth

Mrs. Sara Sanders Whitworth, 94, of Jefferson, formerly of Hartwell, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022 at Park Place Nursing and Rehab in Monroe, GA.

Born on May 20, 1927 in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late Guy Sanders and Willie Vickery Sanders. Mrs. Whitworth was the retired owner/operator of The Fashion Spot. She was also a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher and WMU director.

Survivors include her son: Bobby K. Whitworth (Gale) of Jefferson; sister: Wilma Howard of Hilton Head, SC; six grandchildren: Kenny Whitworth (Angela), Chris Whitworth, Al Whitworth (Stephanie), Eric Whitworth (Celia), and Lindsey Whitworth, Leah Pavel (Josh); and nine great grandchildren. Mrs. Whitworth is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Bobby Joe Whitworth; two brothers: Melvin & Kenneth Sanders; and one sister: Shirley S. Shirley.

The family will receive friends Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sara Whitworth will be held Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Sean Payne officiating.Burial will be in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cross Roads Baptist Church Family Life Center, 3636 Lavonia Hwy, Hartwell, GA 30643.
