Sarah Brooks (Brooksie) Maret Harrison passed away on April 6 at home in Atlanta, Georgia.Brooksie was born on August 3, 1923 in Lavonia, Georgia to Nancy Susan Brooks and Albin Ligon Maret. After graduating from the University of Georgia with a degree in sociology, she taught eighth grade history in Dalton, Georgia.In 1946, she married Oscar Dill Harrison and moved to Atlanta.She joined Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in 1949 and remained an active member throughout the years. Brooksie served on the Administrative Board of the church and was a life-long member of the Friendship Class, serving as an officer for many years. She was also a member and circle leader of the United Methodist Women.In addition to her church activities, she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and president of the Alumnae Day Group.
She is survived by her husband Dill to whom she was married for 60 years, two daughters: Susan Kaufman of San Antonio, Texas and Karen Garrison of Auburn, Alabama; a son-in-law, Roger Garrison; three grandsons: David Brooks Kaufman and Emmet Harrison Kaufman of San Antonio and James Eric Garrison of Auburn; and three cousins: Nancy Brooks Jones, David William Brooks III, and Flora Bonner Faircloth. These and extended family members will miss her greatly.

A family graveside service will be held in the Lavonia City Cemetery on Tuesday, April 10 at 1:00 p.m. Reverend David Jones will officiate. A memorial service will be held at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church on Wednesday, April 11 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Don Harp officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Methodist Children's Home, 500 S. Columbia Dr. Decatur, GA 30030 or to a charity of your choice.
