Mrs. Sarah Godfrey Smith, 92, of Sunset Drive, Hartwell, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at her home.

Born on February 1, 1922 in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Wade Hampton "Hamp" Godfrey and Lillian Julia Cobb Godfrey.She was retired from Southern Umbrella Company. Also a member of Bethany Baptist Church and the Joyful Sunday School Class.

Survivors include four sons: Lewis Smith and his wife Martha of Anderson, Ed Smith and his wife Pudge of Hartwell, David Smith and his wife Candy of Bowersville, Ricky Smith and his wife Sharon of Hartwell; three daughters: Sammy Craft of Martin, Sarah Snow and her husband Jerry of Hartwell and Susan Burdette and her husband Billy of Pendergrass; one sister: Alice Collins of Ware Shoals, SC; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband: Harry Smith; one daughter: Harriet Smith; three brothers: James Godfrey, George Godfrey and Wade Godfrey; two sisters: Mamie O'Dell and Rose Coats and one grandchild: Tina Thornton.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Jerry Durham officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
