James "Scott" Bowers, age 35, of Lavonia, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born August 27, 1981, in Stephens County, he was the son of Jimmy and Becky (Culpepper) Bowers. He was a graduate of Hart County High School and Emmanuel College. He played baseball throughout high school and later enjoyed coaching and umpiring for Little League. Scott worked at McCann Aerospace in Athens as a technician and was a member of the Canon Unitarian Universalist Church. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Charles and Lanelle Bowers of Canon and James Culpepper and Betty Jean Culpepper Harrell of Lavonia.
He is survived by his parents: Jimmy and Becky Bowers; daughters: Cameron Merlene Heaton & Kailyn Elizabeth Bowers, and their mother: Nicki Adams; son: Jameson "Cruz" Bowers, and his mother: Brooke King-Bowers; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Chad Posey officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hart County Little League, P.O. Box 385, Hartwell, GA 30643 or Hartwell YMCA, 281 Opal Ext. Hartwell, GA 30643.
