Scotty Lee Atkinson, age 69, of Martin passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at his home, following an extended illness.
He was born November 14, 1953, in Lubbock, TX, son of the late Henry and Marqueita Ellison Atkinson. He was retired and loved people. Scotty was a fan of all sports, but baseball was his passion. One of the highlights of his life was coaching his son and the Franklin County Little League. The joy and passion that he brought to that role made a lasting impact to the boys that he coached. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Those remaining to cherish many fond memories are his wife: Brenda Kleiber Atkinson; children & spouses: Cypil (JD) Douglas of Lubbock, TX, grandchildren: Hunter, Logan, Avery and Erika (Justin) Crawford of Phoenix, AZ, grandchildren: Brandon, Tristen and Peyton and Kristin (Ted) Kennedy of Toccoa, grandchildren: Bailey and Reese and Jason (Julie) Atkinson of Eastanollee; grandchildren: Taylor, and Kaylee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Rocky Atkinson.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Smith and Rev. Tyler Matthews officiating. The family will receive friends, at church, for an hour prior to the service.
