Mrs. Shelby Cleveland Brown, 88, of Hartwell, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 23, 2024.

Born on June 29, 1936, in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late Denver Walton Cleveland and Drucilla Vickery Cleveland. She was employed at the Hart County Board of Education for over 25 years where she retired as a bookkeeper. She was a member of the Hartwell First Baptist Church. Her most cherished accomplishments were being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her two children, a son and his wife, Keith and Jackie Brown of Hartwell, and a daughter and her husband, Dennis and Nancy Cobb of Aiken, South Carolina, three grandchildren, Kyle and Emily (Caulk) Brown of Taylors, South Carolina, Bailey and Meagan (Cobb) Heath of New Haven, Connecticut, and Nicholas Brown, of Raleigh, North Carolina, and one great-granddaughter, Emerson Brown of Taylors, South Carolina. She is also survived by a brother and his wife, Roy and Linda Cleveland of Gainesville, Georgia, two sisters-in-law, Barbara Cleveland and Betty Jane Brown both of Hartwell, Georgia, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Joel Omer Brown, two brothers, Eugene Cleveland and Kenneth Cleveland, two brothers-in-law, Gerald Brown and Linder Brown, and two sister-in-law's, Joyce Tucker Brown and Sue Ayers Cleveland.

The family will receive friends Monday, August 26, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Funeral services for Mrs. Shelby Brown will be held Monday, August 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral of Hartwell with Rev. Matt Law officiating.  Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

Flowers are optional, and memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hartwell, 81 E. Howell St, Hartwell, GA 30643.
