Mrs. Shelby Jean Brown Byrum, 74, of 84 West Franklin Place, Hartwell, died Saturday, October 1 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born on February 13, 1937 in Franklin County GA, she was the daughter of the late Jewett Brown and Amy Buris Ayers Brown.She was a retired seamstress for the Hartwell Company and a member of the Hartwell Church of God.
Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Powell and her husband Alan of Canon; two sons, Jerry Byrum and his wife Lavonda of Bowersville and Ricky Byrum and his wife Kris of Hartwell; five sisters, Eloise Nash and Barbara Dove both of Carnesville, Joyce White of Winterville GA, Faye Beck of Starr SC and Sara Dove of Comer GA; two brothers, Benny Brown and Larry Brown both of Carnesville; five grandchildren, Candy Oglesby and her husband Heath, Beau Powell and his wife Brenda, Gabe Powell and his wife, Lynsay, Jessica Byrum and Gage Brown; six great-grandchildren, Tyler Ballard, River Powell, Broadus "Brody" Powell, Mackenzie Oglesby, Kristen Banks and Carter Banks also survive.Mrs. Byrum was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Broadus Byrum; brother, Lewis R. Brown and sister, Mary Farmer.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hartwell Church of God with Rev. Lonnie Bennett and Rev. Dan Nash officiating.Burial will follow in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
