Shelby Jean Wood Wilbanks, age 83, of Lavonia, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2022 at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital.

Born July 12, 1938, in Lavonia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas William and Artie Mae Nix Wood. She was a homemaker and loved working in her flower bed. She enjoyed Nascar and dirt track racing. Mrs. Wilbanks was a member of the Church of God of the Union Assembly.

She is survived by daughters: Lynn Rholetter Arterburn and Cheryl Wilbanks (Jeff); sons: Troy Rholetter (Lori), Talmadge Rholetter, Nelson Rholetter, Tony Rholetter (Dee), and Ernie Wilbanks (Lisa); sister: Mildred (Wood) Ramey Turner; brothers: Preston Wood and Rayford Wood; 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son: Ned Rholetter, brother: Roy Wood; and sisters: Elease Peeples, Beatrice Wood, Ruby Nell Chastain, Ruth Wooten, Edna Cape and Gatha Blackwell.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2022 in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Darrell Akins officiating. Burial will follow in the Lavonia City-Burgess Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the service.
