Mrs. Shelvy Jean Davis Mumpower, 78, of Hartwell, died Monday, June 15, 2015.

Born on July 2, 1936 in Rome, Ga, she was the daughter of the late Farris James Davis and Margaret Jesse Sanders Davis.Mrs. Mumpower was a home maker and a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Elberton and a prior member of the Reed Creek Baptist Church and Indian Springs Baptist Church in Kingsport, TN.

Survivors include one son: Bruce Mumpower and his wife Janice of Matthews, NC; two daughters: Becky Mumpower of Carnesville and Marcie Campbell and her husband Dr. Joe H. Campbellof Hartwell; seven grandchildren: Allison Jean Bradford, Christopher Mumpower, Casey Sharpe, Danielle Mumpower, Scottie Holcombe, Katie Bailey and Becky Jacobs; three great-grandchildren: Logan Tatum, Jackson Tatum, and Joseph Bailey; one sister: Bonnie Grantham of Jasper, GA; and one brother: Rev. Don Davis of Lithia, FL also survive.Mrs. Mumpower was preceded in death by her husband: Clyde Jacob Mumpower and one brother: Rev. James Davis.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Hugh Kirby officiating.Burial will be in the Reed Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 Thursday evening. The family is at the home of Marcie and Dr. Joe H.
