Mrs. Shirley Jo Black Sanders, 84, of Hartwell, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022 at AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson.

Born on August 27, 1937 in Elberton, GA, she was the daughter of the late Olin Black and Unie Williams Black. Mrs. Sanders was a nursery worker for Bright Horizons Day Care, and a member of Mt. Olivet Church of God.

Survivors include her two sons: Dennis Sanders (Teresa) of Hartwell and Jeff A. Sanders (Nancy) of Elberton; daughter: Donna Sanders of Hartwell; daughter-in-law: Wanda Sanders of Elberton; three brothers: Wayne Black of Elberton, Edward Black of Elberton, and Tommy Black of Hartwell; two sisters: Jan Alexander of Elberton and Judy Vickery of Hartwell. Five grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her parents; husband: George Verdell Sanders; son: Gregory Lee Sanders; two brothers: Bobby and Jerry Black; and two sisters: Dale King and Dollie Bosler.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.  Other times the family will be at the home of Jeff & Nancy Sanders, 1903 Craft Road, Elberton, GA.

Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Sanders will be held Monday, August 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Kevin Vaughn and Mr. Fred Greenway officiating.  Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
