Mrs. Shirley Kay Martin, 84, of Hartwell, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at her home.

Born on July 23, 1940 in Bowman, GA, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Kay and Naomi Welborn Kay. Mrs. Martin was a retired assembly worker for the Southern Umbrella Company, and a member of the Sardis Baptist Church. Shirley also loved gardening, camping, yard sales, and taking care of her grandkids.

Survivors include her husband: Billy Sam Martin of the home; one son: Keith Martin of Hartwell; three daughters: Debra Martin of Hartwell, Angela Ellison (Mike) of Elberton, and Karen Martin (Jeff) of Canon; one sister: Nellie Hembree of Hartwell; one sister-in-law: Peggy Kay of Canon; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Martin is preceded in death by her parents; one son: Randy Martin; four brothers: Rev. Luther Kay, James Kay, Ed Kay, and Floyd Kay Jr; and four sisters: Frances Fleming, Nancy Paxton, Leila Vaughn, and Jean Campbell.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Martin will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Ellison officiating.  Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
