Mrs. Shirley June Huff Meeks, 70, of 56 Red Fox Run, Hartwell, died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at her home.

Born on December 8, 1939 in Athens, GA, she was the daughter of the late Augustus M. Huff and Ruby Logan Huff. She was former owner/operator of Daisy's Beauty Shop and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include husband, Leon L. Meeks, Sr.; three sons: Garry A. Meeks of Hartwell, Phillip Meeks of Lavonia, and Leon "Leonard" Meeks, Jr. of Hartwell; three sisters: Delores Powers of Lake Placid, FL, Gloria Carlyle of Winder, GA, and Barbara Ann Webb of Winder; four grandchildren: Dana Franklin, Phillip "Lee" Meeks, Jr., Brandi Meeks, and Christopher Meeks; and three great grandchildren: Austin Franklin, Brent Franklin, and Gerardo G. Pulido, Jr.Mrs. Meeks was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hartwell Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Oconee Hill Cemetery in Athens, GA at 1:00 PM.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday night.The family is at the home.
