Obituary

Mr. Stephen David Leard, age 57, of Martin, died Saturday, September 14, 2013 at his home.
Born November 3, 1955, in Royston, he was the son of Ruby Nell (Ashworth) Leard and the late Gus Leard. He was a maintenance worker with Power Partners in Athens. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. Mr. Leard was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Honduras Mission Team.
He is survived by his wife: Cheryl (Thomas) Leard; daughter: Christy Leard Ellison and husband, Jared; son: David Leard and wife, Amber; daughter: Nicholle Leard; step daughter: Teresa Bruce; step son: Mark Moseley; brother: Billy Leard; and grandchildren: Whitney Herndon, Lauren Bruce, Kylie Bruce, Jaden Moseley, Mia Moseley, Donavan Jones, Chloe Jones, and Devin Ellison.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 16, 2013 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour. At other hours the family will be at the home of Teresa and Mike Bruce.
