Mrs. Susan Underwood Bowers, 65, of Hartwell passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024 at her home.

Born on September 26, 1958 in Atlanta GA, she was the daughter of the late Emmett Iverson Underwood Sr. and Mary Henley Underwood. Mrs. Bowers graduated and received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, then she went on to receive her Masters in Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and another Masters in Social Work from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville KY.  Mrs. Bowers served as a Missionary for the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention to Thailand for 2 years and in South America for 32 ½ years.  She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband: Stephen W. Bowers; two sons: Corbin J. Bowers (Avory) of Charleston WV and Austin C. Bowers (Lynsie) of Greenville SC; three grandchildren: Canaan Bowers, Molly Bowers and Memphis Bowers; a brother: Emmett I. Underwood of Douglasville GA and a sister: Brenda Faye Conner of Douglasville GA.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Sardis Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Susan Bowers will be Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. John Silver and Rev. Luther Thomason officiating.  Burial will be in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.
