Susan Larene (Lavendar) England, 75, of Hartwell, Georgia, passed away October 17, 2026, at home, surrounded by those she loved.

Susan was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to Thomas Scott Lavendar and Betty Ruth Sheets Lavendar, and grew up in Forest Park, Georgia. Susan loved fiercely. She was a devoted wife, sister, aunt, and friend who brought joy, humor, and comfort to countless people over the course of her 75 years. Her dry, witty humor and mischievous grin were unmistakably hers – trademark qualities that will be remembered fondly by everyone lucky enough to know her.

She shared nearly 50 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Michael England. Throughout their marriage, Susan was Michael’s greatest cheerleader, always encouraging, inspiring, and celebrating his remarkable artistic talent.

Susan had a deep and enduring love of plants and flowers. While living in McDonough, she grew more than 400 varieties of daylilies, including several that she and Michael hybridized together. Her favorite color was yellow, and cats held a special place in her heart. She found great joy in growing and caring for beautiful things.

During her years at West Georgia College, Susan joined Alpha Gamma Delta, where she formed lifelong friendships. After graduating in 1973, she returned to her alma mater, Forest Park Senior High School, where she began teaching students only a few years younger than she was. In the years that followed, Susan had several careers, carrying with her the same warmth, wit, generosity and positive influence that characterized every part of her life.

Susan readily shared her time and talents with others. Whether helping family, friends, neighbors or her community, she was often the first to step up when there was a need. She was a loyal friend to many, and some of those friendships spanned decades.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents and cherished nephew, Jason Lavendar.

She is survived by her loving husband, Michael England; her sister, Ann Geiry (Mike); her brother, Gary Lavendar; her nieces Angie Lavendar (Tammy) and Courtney Smith (Chris); her nephew Matt Lavendar; and countless extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
