Mrs. Martha Sue "Suzie" Gaines Axton, 56, of 881 Bent Creek Road, Hartwell, GA, died Monday, February 25, 2008 at her home.

Born October 30, 1951 in Hart County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Charles Wesley Gaines and Bertha Mae Chastain Gaines.She was formerly employed for Dr. Jonathan Merrill.She was a retired L.P.N. and Surgical Nurse; she taught Lamaze at Hart County Hospital and was also employed at Cobb Memorial Hospital and Stephens County Hospital.She was a member of Reed Creek Baptist Church; Former member and Past President of the Pilot Club of Hartwell;Member of Georgia Egg Guild, where she represented Georgia at the White House in 2002.

Her survivors include: Husband, Robert "Bob" Axton; Daughters, Nichole Hartman and her husband Mike of Greenville, SC, Jennifer Donald and her husband Dwayne of Hartwell, GA; Sisters, Jean Anderson of Columbia, SC and Tonnye Faye Christian of Hartwell, GA; Five grandchildren, Alex Evans, Morgan Donald,Reagan Donald, Jackson Donald and Peyton Donald.She is preceded in death by Parents; Brother, Robert Gaines and a Sister.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Rev. Jerry Durham will officiate.Entombment will be in the Memorial Garden of Prayer.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 8:00 p.m.The family is at the home.
