Robert Swain Roberson, 89, widower of Roselle Roberson, went to his heavenly home on August 1, 2013 at his home in Lavonia.
Born April 23, 1924, in Banks County, GA., he was the son of the late Lee and Eurith Roberson. After 25 years of faithful service, he retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglass in Anderson in 1982. Then, Swain and his son opened Roberson Muffler in 1983 where he continued to work until 1994. Mr. Roberson proudly served in the Navy in WWII on the USS African Star and the USS Stockton 646.He was a devoted member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Lavonia.
He is survived by a daughter, Sylvia McLeod (Jeff), and two sons, Swain Roberson, Jr. (Connie) and Tim Roberson; two grandchildren Shane Roberson and Melissa Bennett and five great-grandchildren: Caitlin, Erin and Noah Roberson and Tyler and Kelsey Bennett. Also surviving are five brothers: Ed Roberson, Doug Roberson, David Roberson, Clinton Roberson and Winston Roberson; and two sisters: Marcel Brady and Roselle Dove.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Roberson was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Ann; one sister, Ruby Caudell; and two brothers, Crawford Roberson and Leland Roberson.
Services will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Saturday at 11:00 am with Rev. JohnForbes officiating. Burial will be in the Lavonia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service, from 9:30 – 11:00 am in the church sanctuary.
